Product Overview
It is a quickly bounding, formable two-component resin system, for preparing smaller objects, jewels in moulds.
The moulded resin could be picked out from the moulds following 1-2 hours time and stays formable for another couple of hours. After 3 days of hardening, it becomes an extremely durable, stable, non-transparent material of white or ivory colour.
It can be coloured with Pentart Resin Tint before moulding, and after drying by acrylic paints. The surface could be made sparkling by pigment powders, metal pigments, Pentart Art Mica or glitters.
How to use rapid resin:
RAPID RESIN
The basic components are hazardous substances; treat them carefully. Prepare the work area, read
the user manual, and plan your work procedure. Read the manual carefully before using the product.
MANUAL
1. Preparation of the work area
Choose an airy, and well ventilled environment. The work surface shall be horizontal,
covered by a plastic sheet, a painting foil or by a silicone paper against the potential
contaminations. Always use protective gloves during the work. Also protect your clothing.
2. Measuring, homogenizing
Stir well component B. The mixing proportion is 1:1, that is same volumes are poured to the
the measuring cups. Make a mixture of the two components by doing reduced intensity
stirring for two minutes, while obtaining a homogenuous mass. Use a wooden or plastic
spatula to mix it. An inadequately mixed material will not harden perfectly, and the resin will
remain sticky.
3. Pouring
The homogenuous mixture should be poured into moulds, which are free of dust, oily and
greasy impurities (best to use silicon moulds). Cleaning the mould use Pentart Rubbing
Alcohol cleaning spray. If thickness of the object to be prepared is greater than 1 cm, it is
advised to do moulding simultaneously one layer after the other. Allow enough time for the
hardening resin to bound to the layer below (about 90 minutes).
4. Reaction
Following mixing the cross-linking starts, the resin is hardening, and heat is generating. The
thicker is the layer of the resin the more heat is evolving, in case of a 1 cm thickness the
temperature can reach 70-80 o C. The residual mixture in the reaction vessel may warm up to
90-110 o C, it gets hard and may turn to waste. Pay attention always to the mixed resin!
Pot life (time period while the resin is usable: 15-20 minutes at 25 o C.
5. Removing bubbles
The bubbles formed during mixing will emerge to the surface. Carefully drive them out from
the mixture, and pay attention not to breathe the emitted gases. Apply a couple drops of
Pentart Rubbing alcohol to the surface, or use a heat gun or a cooking torch (gas torch) and
move the flame slowly about 5 cm away from the surface so the bubbles can emerge to the
surface.
6. Drying
Let the resin-mixture dry at ambient temperature. The casted resin would be picked up from
the moulds within 1-2 hours timeframe, and in case of a thinner layer (0-5 mm) it can be
easily bended and formed. It reaches a significant hardness after 24 hours, but full hardness
is reached only after 3 days.
7. Colouring
Before hardening the resin-mixture may be coloured by adding Pentart Resin Tint. Weigh 1-2
ml of tint to 100 ml of the mixture. If your rapid resin is white, then you will obtain a pastel
shade, while in case of ivory rapid resin, your object will have a vivid colour. Consider that
the ivory shade of the resin will modify the resulting colour of your object. In case of over-
colouring, your product can remain slightly elastic, and the necessary bounding period may
be longer.
The surface of the cast mould can become shiny if the inner surface of the mould is smeared
with pigment powders or glitters before pouring the resin mixture.
8. Cleaning utensils
The still fluid resin may be removed from the surfaces by Pentart Rubbing Alcohol. Clean the
mixing tools by alcohol and towelling paper immediately after use. Hardened resin can only
be removed by physical manipulation.
